Pamarot allays fitness fear
19 Dec 2007 - 14:25:22
Portsmouth defender Noe Pamarot has allayed fears over his fitness after revealing his hamstring injury is not as bad as was first feared.
The Pompey full-back was injured in the second half of last weekend's 1-0 defeat by Tottenham at Fratton Park.
Initial estimates suggested the former Spurs defender would be sidelined for at least four weeks but, although Pamarot will miss Saturday's trip to Liverpool, he is expected to be fit for the Boxing Day clash with Arsenal.
"It's not too bad. The physio thinks it will only take one week to heal rather than two weeks so, hopefully, I'll be available for the Arsenal game on Boxing Day," he told the Portsmouth News.
"It's a small tear. I felt something early in the second half and it wasn't worth taking a risk. If you risk it, it can be much worse. So hopefully, I'll only miss one game.
"They've been a problem for me before so I think I need to do more work on my hamstrings and make sure that they're warmed up properly.
"It was freezing. I didn't do much of a warm-up after half-time, so maybe it was because of that."
