Gary O'Neil's agent is seeking urgent talks with Milan Mandaric after the
Portsmouth chairman revealed a number of top-flight clubs were interested in signing the midfielder.
The 22-year-old has been one of the few Pompey players to shine this season and it is rumoured that Liverpool plan to follow up their long-term interest in him with a bid in January.
However, Mandaric's suggestion that "three or four" Premiership sides had enquired about O'Neil came as a complete surprise to agent John Mac.
"Gary and I are very interested in the chairman's comments," Mac told Sky Sports.
"I'll be giving Mr Mandaric a ring to see who the major Premiership sides are because no-one has had the decency to tell Gary.
"Gary had a meeting with the chairman on Monday and nothing was mentioned."
