Nugent: Pompey can reach play-offs

Portsmouth striker David Nugent still believes his side can mount a late charge for the npower Championship play-off places. The former England striker's 10th goal of the season gave Pompey a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, leaving them 15th in the table but with a game in hand on many of their rivals. Nugent told the club's official website: "We got the three points (against Palace) and now we're 13 points off the play-offs with a game in hand over a lot of sides. "We're not giving up. We've won the last three and drew one before that, so we're in good form and can hopefully take that into the Ipswich match on Saturday. "It's hard when you haven't won at home for a while - you get a bit nervous coming out in front of the fans. But we've won two on the bounce at Fratton Park and hopefully that will give us the confidence to get more home wins." On his goal tally, he added: "I'm on to 10 goals now but there are a few games left, so now I want to get to 15. I'm starting on the left of a three-man attack. I get more of the ball when I'm out on the left. I get more space and can then do what I do best - run at people and get my shots away. It seems to be paying off."
