Nugent - No player input
Portsmouth striker David Nugent has denied claims that the players have been involved in talks over who should take over from Tony Adams at Fratton Park.[LNB] Adams was sacked on Monday after less than four months in charge at Pompey following their slide down the table.[LNB]Reports have suggested some senior Portsmouth players have been calling on the club to move for Sven Goran Eriksson as Adams' successor.[LNB]However, Nugent insists the players have not really discussed the matter and that they will leave it up to owner Sacha Gaydamak and chief executive Peter Storrie.[LNB]"No we really haven't discussed it between the players," Nugent told Sky Sports News.[LNB]"We are going to leave it down to Peter Storrie and Sacha and whoever they bring in they have got a fight on their hands. We are up for it and let's hope the manager is up for it as well."[LNB]Nugent admits he was disappointed to see Adams leave, but knows everyone in the squad will be out to impress a new manager, starting with this weekend's game with Manchester City. [LNB]"Man City have got a lot of new signings in now so it will be a good test for us and we are looking forward to it," added Nugent.[LNB]"It was a shock when I saw the news [of Adams' sacking] in the morning. I didn't expect it.[LNB]"Tony played me and I scored a few goals under him and I was quite disappointed, but it is the owner and chairman's decision.[LNB]"All the players will be fighting for positions, all the fringe players will be on their toes wanting to get in there and we are all going to be fighting for our positions."
