No plans to splash the cash - Cotterill

Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill admits new owner Balram Chainrai is not going to start throwing his money around. Cotterill is desperate to add reinforcements to his thin squad but, having held brief talks with chairman Chainrai before Tuesday's 1-1 draw against QPR, is not expecting miracles just yet. "I had lunch with him briefly, but it wasn't ideal. I don't want to be talking too much on a match day," he said. "The crux of the conversation is that they've got to get their feet under the table. It's all very well them coming in and saying `wallop, here's a lot of money. Off you go.' They've already done that here and been burnt a bit. "Until the burns on their fingers dry up, I think they've got to learn to perhaps trust me. I'll be the one spending their money if anybody. We might have to take that one nice and gently and not put any real pressure on them. "We just need to make sure we've got enough players here and not every one of them is a loan player, which is a problem we've had right from the start."
