Antti Niemi has confirmed that he is in talks with Portsmouth about a move to the South Coast.
The 37-year-old Finn retired from football last season after struggling with a wrist injury whilst with Fulham.
But now Pompey boss Paul Hart has made a move to persuade Niemi back to England to act as cover for number one David James.
The former Hearts and Southampton ace has confirmed he is talking with the Premier League club.
"I have talked with Portsmouth, and there is an interest on both sides," Niemi told Ilta-Sanomat.
Niemi, though, denied claims in England that he had already signed a one-year deal.
"The deal is not done, that is entirely premature," he continued.
"We will see what happens this week, when things should move on."
