Mokoena targets Blades return

Injured Portsmouth captain Aaron Mokoena is targeting a return against Sheffield United at the weekend despite being stretchered off against Ipswich. The South Africa international suffered a recurrence of an old injury when a pin in his leg from a previous operation jarred his shin and will miss out at Crystal Palace. He told the club's official website: "I had a pin inserted in an operation in Belgium six years ago after suffering a stress fracture to my shin. "I went for a header against Ipswich and when I came down I felt the pin and was in awful pain. I tried to carry on but as I moved I knew it felt wrong. "It's happened a couple of times since I had surgery. The last time was a couple of years ago. The pin is nailed into the bone and that's why it can occasionally cause pain like this. "But it's good the X-ray showed nothing was wrong. I'm very relieved because as I was being stretchered away I wondered how bad it was. There's no damage so that's good news for me. It already feels a lot better so fingers crossed I should be okay for Saturday."
