Derby have added former Portsmouth assistant manager Johnny Metgod to their coaching staff. Metgod has been out of work since leaving Pompey in February following Tony Adams' dismissal as manager. The Dutchman will be involved in coaching the first team and the academy as well as undertaking scouting duties. Metgod played alongside Nigel Clough at Nottingham Forest and the Derby manager believes the 51-year-old will prove to be a good addition to the set-up at Pride Park. He said: "This is an excellent appointment. Johnny has played at the highest level and coached at the highest level and his knowledge of the game is second to none. He also possesses an infectious enthusiasm. "Johnny won't have a specific role. I want to use his talents in a number of areas. I believe we now have a first-class coaching set-up throughout the club as we prepare for the new season."
