Ghana centre-back John Mensah has claimed that Portsmouth are keen to bring him to England next summer.
The 25-year-old, who has also been tracked by Reading in recent times, currently plays his football in France with Rennes, but he is keen to try his luck in the Premier League.
He told The Sun: "I would be happy to join John Utaka at Fratton Park. I think it is a good place for an African player.
"In the past Reading spoke about me and I know they are still interested, but with Portsmouth joining the picture it has made it even more interesting.
"They are not the only top English clubs keen on me."
Meanwhile, Pompey playmaker Niko Kranjcar has hailed the impact made by Jermain Defoe since his arrival from Spurs, with the striker having netted eight goals in seven games for the South Coast club.
Kranjcar told The News: "It's always great to have a real goalscorer in the team and there is no doubt Jermain is that.
"He is capable of getting a goal and can turn things around even when we are not on top."
