Magpies plan Ritchie raid

Notts County boss Ian McParland is planning an audacious swoop for Portsmouth's Matt Ritchie. The Magpies are in talks with their Premier League counterparts in regards to a deal, with a six-figure fee believed to have been discussed. The 19-year-old winger would have no problem adapting to life in League Two after spending the 2008/09 campaign on loan at Dagenham. He impressed greatly during that spell, scoring 12 goals in 41 appearances - including three against County. McParland is hoping the talented teenager can now be lured to Meadow Lane, believing Ritchie would represent a sound investment for the future. "I don't want to remember the goals he scored against us! He got quite a few last season for a wide player," the Magpies boss told the Nottingham Evening Post. Live-wire"I have been tracking him since the end of last season but I didn't know if I'd be able to get him. "I spoke to Paul (Hart) about him a few weeks back. I want to build a future for this football club and at 19 he is one for the future. "There has been dialogue and figures have been spoken about. "The experience of playing at Dagenham last season will help him. "He's a little live-wire, he never stops running and he works hard. He's a good player."
