David Lampitt has surprisingly left Portsmouth Football Club with financial director John Redgate and commercial director Nick Byrom following him out of the club.
The news comes as Trevor Birch looks to cut running costs at Pompey and although the circumstances of the board members' exit has yet to be confirmed, it seems like they are the first casualties of the club's second administration in two years.
Whilst I feel some sympathy for Lampitt given the circumstances he had to work with, he has made some questionable decisions during his time here.
The decision to sign players on high salaries whilst still in administration back in 2010 has come back to haunt us, whilst the £2 "administration fee" put people off coming to Fratton Park when we needed them.
I do wonder how many of the decisions that have been made in the last couple of years had actually been made by Lampitt and how much of an "owners' puppet" he might have been. Now he has gone, perhaps we might find out in the future.
Let's hope that whoever takes over (whenever that may be) knows how to run a football club efficiently and just as importantly understands the city of Portsmouth and its people.
