Kranjcar rubbishes Greek link
16 Apr 2009 - 16:49:11
Portsmouth's Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar has dismissed recent speculation linking him with a summer move to Greek giants Panathinaikos.
The 24-year-old admits that he will consider his future if Pompey are relegated from the Premier League, but insists that his focus is solely on survival at the present moment.
He told the Greek media: "What has happened in the last few days is not the best for me. I am a player of Portsmouth and this is what everybody has to understand.
"Believe me, I never said in Croatia that Panathinaikos is one of my choices. I really like Portsmouth and I will try my best to help them to avoid relegation.
"I don't know why everybody believes that Portsmouth will be relegated.
"If we are going to play Premier League football next season I have no reason to discuss my future. If not, we will see.
"My main target is to keep playing Premier League football. I believe that I have the quality to stay in the Premier League. About Arsenal and Tottenham, I can say that I have nothing official so far.
"Right now I am a player of Portsmouth and I am concentrating on my job here.
"About Pana? They are a big club with success in European competitions, but my priority is to stay in England."
