Kranjcar over injury woes
05 Sep 2007 - 10:52:48
Portsmouth's Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar is delighted to be back in action after a foot injury delayed his start to the new season.
The 23-year-old missed the first four games of the new campaign, but returned to action in the last week, featuring against both Leeds United and Arsenal.
Kranjcar told the club's official website: "I had a small fracture in my foot, but now it's pretty good. There's no pain.
"I was very unhappy with my injury, because it happened just before the start of the season, when you want to be doing well and getting yourself in the team.
"I was very happy with my game against Leeds United and was glad to get another 45 minutes against Arsenal. I felt pretty comfortable."
Meanwhile, former Pompey schemer Gary O'Neil has spoken of his surprise at being allowed to leave Fratton Park to join Middlesbrough.
He told The News: "I got a phone call from my agent that Portsmouth had accepted an offer from both Fulham and Middlesbrough.
"I certainly wasn't expecting anything to happen, I was just getting ready for the Arsenal game.
"If the club accepts an offer, you haven't really got any options. But it's not personal, the club have got ambitions.
"They've spent a lot of money this summer and they obviously needed to get some back."
