Kranjcar hails Harry approach
23 Jun 2008 - 10:35:07
Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar believes that England would have made it to the finals of Euro 2008 had Pompey boss Harry Redknapp been their manager.
Redknapp was linked with the national team job before Steve McClaren took charge after the World Cup in 2006 and Kranjcar thinks that his club chief would have been a success.
He told The News: "Would England have been in the finals and reached the knockout stages by playing good football with Harry in charge? Yes, I think so.
"I am a 23-year-old, so who am I to judge if the people at the FA have made a mistake or not? But I think Harry would have done a great job with England.
"He is serious about his football and the way football should be played."
Of the similarities between Redknapp and Croatia coach Slaven Bilic, Kranjcar added: "Their man-management is similar. They treat you as an equal, as a friend rather than as a boss to a player.
"Slaven is younger and he has some fresher ideas, new ideas. But they both have a lot of knowledge of football and it is a joy to work with both of them."
