Kitson sees bright future for Nugent partnership

Portsmouth striker Dave Kitson believes his partnership with David Nugent can be as good as the attack that fired Reading to the Championship title in 2005/2006. Kitson and partner Kevin Doyle each netted 18 goals in a prolific season, and Kitson believes he and Nugent are starting to develop a similar partnership. He told The Portsmouth News: "Nuge is very similar to Kevin Doyle from my Reading days. He is a willing worker, will run the channels and he's surprisingly good in the air. He's also strong - you can't knock him off the ball - and he's deceptively quick. "I knew David Nugent from what I'd seen on TV before I joined and I've seen myself that he's a very, very good player who is capable of scoring plenty of goals. He is not one to shy away from the hard work - he never has. That's the way he plays, it's a natural thing to him. "But he has moved for big money, has played in the Premier League and he's a decent, decent player - as are the rest of the team. "We've got the players around us and if we get those quality players in the right positions, it's only a matter of time before we see a decent striking partnership scoring plenty of goals."
