Kanu keen on two-year stay
15 Mar 2007 - 14:26:00
Nigeria striker Nwankwo Kanu is keen to stay at Portsmouth, but wants a new two-year contract rather than the 12-month deal that has been on offer from Pompey.
The 30-year-old has scored 12 times for the Fratton Park club since joining them at the start of the season, but uncertainty surrounds his future on the south coast.
Kanu's representative, Samuel Okoronkwo, told Sky Sports: "He is in fact very keen to commit his future to the club.
"Money is not an issue. Kanu has been offered a one-year contract but has asked for a two-year contract.
"He is happy to give his future to Portsmouth, but wants that reciprocated.
"He has incredible admiration for Harry Redknapp and turned down more lucrative offers from abroad to sign for Portsmouth.
"We are not at war with Portsmouth, but chief executive Peter Storrie should kill the uncertainty.
"There are others interested. Stop demoralising him, make him feel valued and give him what he's worth."
