Kanu hints at Portsmouth stay
27 May 2009 - 16:21:45
Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu has hinted that he will stay at Fratton Park next season, despite receiving offers from a number of other clubs.
The 32-year-old Nigeria international has scored 21 goals in 94 appearances for Pompey to date and has enjoyed playing under interim Portsmouth boss Paul hart this season.
He told The News: "I have another year's contract and it is for me to decide if I stay.
"I have offers from France, Italy, Germany, Qatar, USA and Japan, but it is likely I am going to be at Portsmouth next season.
"I have two World Cup qualifiers with Nigeria in June and then I will go on holiday with my family and make a decision about my future.
"Portsmouth appreciate what I have done for them and I would like to stay. I believe I can play at the top level for another one or two years.
"I want to play for Paul Hart as well, he's done a great job. He's kept us in the Premier League.
"Every player wants to play for him, he's got the experience - which is very important - and the players want him to stay."
