Kanu eyes Pompey cup glory
04 Apr 2008 - 11:25:13
Portsmouth striker Nwankwo Kanu is hoping that his side can go on to win the FA Cup to try and ensure that Pompey are able to recruit further quality players next summer.
Pompey are the only Premier League side left in the competition ahead of the semi-finals, with West Bromwich Albion up next for Harry Redknapp's side.
Kanu told The News: "To be in Europe would be a great experience for this club and would get more very good players to come to Portsmouth.
"Last season we were ninth and a lot of players came in. If we can win the FA Cup and play in Europe, more very good players are going to come.
"We know the pressure is on us in this game and we don't want to throw the chance away. We don't want to disappoint anyone.
"But if you ask any of the players, we don't fear anybody. We go out to play football and give our best and if our best is good enough, we win.
"Nobody expected us to be here, but to get to the FA Cup semi-final is a great achievement.
"But we don't want to get carried away, we want to make sure we are in the final.
"To be at Wembley for the semi-final is special, but to be in the final is what we are all dreaming of."
