Kanu eyes Euro charge
31 Oct 2006 - 08:35:53
Portsmouth talisman Nwankwo Kanu is hoping to continue his amazing early-season form throughout his first campaign at Fratton Park.
The 30-year-old former Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion striker has netted seven goals in ten games since joining Pompey in the summer and his form has been a major factor in the club lying near the top of the Premiership table.
Kanu said: "It feels good to be the league's top scorer.
"When the goals come the confidence is good, but you have to have chances to be able to score and the other players are creating them for me.
"I don't think I have changed since coming here, but it is good to be in a team of quality players with a good gaffer who wants you to produce.
"I have already scored as many goals this season as I did last season and I just want them to keep coming.
"We have lots of experience in the team and if you believe you can qualify for Europe, it can happen. I believe we can, but we are not getting carried away."
