Kanu and Bouba Diop agree new Fratton Park deals to help Pompey push to safety

Kanu has been offered a contract to stay at Portsmouth for the rest of the season. The 33-year-old Nigerian had originally signed a short-term deal until the end of August, alerting other clubs, but looks set to extend his time at Fratton Park to a fourth full season. Portsmouth are bottom of the Barclays Premier League and desperate to keep hold of Kanu who could add the firepower boss Part Hart needs to keep his side up. Kanu has scored 15 goals in 82 appearances for Pompey including the winning goal against Cardiff City in the FA Cup final in 2007. The striker had previously spent two seasons at West Brom after five years at Arsenal. Meanwhile, midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has agreed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Fratton Park until 2011.
