Jonas claims Pompey offer

Portsmouth are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Argentinian winger Jonas Gutierrez from Spanish side Real Mallorca.

The 24-year-old has impressed during two seasons with the Islanders and is excited about the possibility of testing himself in the Premier League.

He told the Spanish media: "The offer has arrived and now I am studying this subject.

"If it was positive for all parties we would close the accord, because footballers have short careers and it is important to make the right decisions.

"But if the transfer is not possible I would stay in Mallorca without problems, because I am a professional."

Gutierrez has scored five goals in 66 league appearances during his time at the Son Moix, following his arrival from Velez Sarsfield.
