James injury lift for Pompey
11 Sep 2009 - 11:06:02
Portsmouth have received a boost with news that David James has been passed fit to return for Saturday's visit of Bolton Wanderers to Fratton Park.
The England keeper missed Pompey's last game against Manchester City and was ruled out of international duty with severe bruising to his knee.
However, after two weeks of rest, the veteran keeper has been given the go-ahead to return for a meeting of the Premier League's bottom two - both of whom will be looking to claim their first points of the season.
Meanwhile, manager Paul Hart has revealed that Hermann Hreidarsson has joined Papa Bouba Diop, Marc Wilson and Steve Finnan on the sidelines with a fresh injury problem.
"Papa's maybe a couple of weeks away yet. Steve's doing training but it's still precautionary. As for Marc, I think he might be back training next week," said Hart.
"Hermann was okay - he'd recovered from a hamstring problem - but this injury has just come on when he was in Iceland.
"It's a strange injury, nobody has seen anything like it. It's on the underside of his foot and seems to be a tendon injury.
"He's seen a specialist in Iceland but it's still painful. It wasn't caused through training, it was a process of wear and tear."
