James hopeful over cup return

Goalkeeper David James is confident of being fit for Portsmouth's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

James limped out of Saturday's 2-0 Premier League defeat to Spurs with a calf injury but believes he will be fit for the Wembley showdown with the north London club on April 11.

The 39-year-old England keeper is also holding out hope of playing against Blackburn Rovers in the league at the weekend.

"I'm just thinking about Blackburn on Saturday and then the FA Cup semi-final after that," he told the club's official website.

"My calf wasn't feeling right but hopefully it's not too bad. Hopefully it was just a niggle.

"Obviously me going off meant we were down to 10 men but I didn't want it to get worse.

"It's better to take a precaution than play on and then have three weeks out."
