James commits to Pompey
12 May 2007 - 08:26:49
Veteran Portsmouth goalkeeper David James has signed a one-year extension to his current contract that will keep him at Fratton Park until the end of the 2008-09 campaign.
The 36-year-old former England international has made 40 appearances for Harry Redknapp's side this term following his transfer from Manchester City last summer and has enjoyed a sparkling season.
The ex-Watford, Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Ham shot-stopper recently broke David Seaman's record for the number of clean sheets in the Premiership and has the option of another year to follow at the end of his current contract.
"The last year has been great and I'm delighted to have signed the extension to my contract," James told Pompey's official website.
"I've enjoyed my football here and, with the plans for the new stadium, the future for Pompey is looking very good on and off the field.
"To be part of that future is exciting and I'm greatly looking forward to things developing."
