James: We're still in the mire
02 Mar 2009 - 12:34:57
Portsmouth's veteran goalkeeper David James has warned his team-mates that there is still much to do if they are to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Pompey have taken four points from their last two matches under the guidance of caretaker boss Paul Hart, but go into Tuesday's vital clash against Chelsea only two points clear of the drop-zone.
England international James told the Portsmouth News: "We haven't turned a corner, results will say we're on that corner still. We aren't out of anything at the moment.
"We're in that awkward position where a couple of bad results and anyone else having a good weekend or two could put us back in the do-do.
"At the same time, we're playing most of the clubs down there in the matches to come, bar Tottenham.
"The fact remains though, we're one or two games from the mire and it's not a comfortable position to be in.
"We all know Chelsea is going to be difficult - they won at the weekend again. It's a big game, and I know I'm coming out with a cliche, but they're all big at the minute."
