James salutes Pompey duo

David James believes Paul Hart and Brian Kidd have already stamped their authority on the Portsmouth dressing room.[LNB] Hart was appointed caretaker manager at Fratton Park on Monday following Tony Adams' dismissal, with Kidd brought in as his assistant.[LNB]They enjoyed a dream start to their spell on the South Coast as Pompey eased their relegation fears with a 2-0 victory over lacklustre Manchester City.[LNB]Goalkeeper James, who set a new Premier League record of 536 appearances during the game, had little to do throughout and welcomed the impact made by the new duo.[LNB]The England international has hinted that former boss Adams struggled to get his views across to the players and that some sessions on the training field under the Arsenal legend and his No.2 John Metgod were unorthodox. [LNB]CommunicationJames told reporters: "With communication, you can do a lot of things in a short space of time. It is not as if you are dealing with a dressing room full of inexperienced players. It is the same side as last year.[LNB]"There were some things Kiddo was saying about our training that he said he had never seen before and that was surprising [LNB]"The pair of them never shut up, but in the right way. It is not ranting and raving but they talk and make their views clear.[LNB]"That was what was needed. If one game was anything to go by you would sign them up for a couple of years, but in reality it is a board decision.[LNB]"I worked with Kiddo in the England set-up. He was telling me about Manchester United - not in a bragging way - and how he worked with individuals.[LNB]"It was amazing to have that conversation with him, because it is exactly what I had been saying for 18 months. It is better than someone coming in with something outlandish and slightly bizarre."[LNB]
