James hoping for Sven
Portsmouth goalkeeper David James thinks that acquiring the services of former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson would be a huge step forward for the club.[LNB] Pompey are searching for a new boss after Tony Adams was sacked due to a series of poor results.[LNB]The Swedish manager has since been linked with a move to Fratton Park, but insisted he would stay in his current post as coach of Mexico until after the 2010 World Cup.[LNB]However, Eriksson has come under pressure due to his side's recent form, which culminated in a 2-0 defeat by the USA on Wednesday night.[LNB]The England goalkeeper now believes it would be the perfect time for the former Manchester City boss to make a return to the Premier League.[LNB]"Somebody of his calibre would be a tremendous acquisition for us," the 38-year-old said.[LNB]Turn Around"Having a former England manager as manager of Portsmouth I'm sure is something that the fans would never have envisaged."[LNB]Pompey were celebrating winning the FA Cup less than a year ago but now find themselves in the midst of a fight to stay in the Premier League. James is confident that Eriksson would be able to turn things around at Fratton Park if he was appointed.[LNB]He added: "Things change very quickly in football. Last season we won the FA Cup and people were talking about the Champions League. Now we need to push up the table."[LNB]"Fundamentally we are the same side so in some respects it is shocking to see the drastic change in form.[LNB]"Sven dropped me a few times, so it would be interesting if he did come in. But when you have players with the ability and quality we have, I think any manager of Sven's high calibre would turn a decent side into a good one again."[LNB]
