James could stay

England goalkeeper David James could yet remain with Portsmouth despite previously indicating he would probably leave Fratton Park. The 39-year-old, who was part of England's World Cup squad, has reached the end of his current deal with Pompey who were relegated from the Premier League last season. James has already revealed a desire to continue playing in the top flight and, with reported interest from Fulham, West Ham and West Brom, a summer move looked on the cards. But James' representative Colin Gordon told the Daily Mail: "It is not inevitable that David is going to leave Portsmouth."
