Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has blasted former club Portsmouth for sacking Tony Adams after less than four months in charge.[LNB]Portsmouth axed Adams after a dramatic slump in form saw them slip from 7th to 16th and into serious relegation trouble.[LNB] The way we were: Harry Redknapp believes Portsmouth have panicked in sacking Tony Adams.[LNB]And with the bottom half of the Premier League so congested, Redknapp believes Portsmouth were panicked into action.[LNB]'It's crazy. They were five minutes away from beating Liverpool at the weekend,' he told the Daily Express.[LNB]'If he had won that game then who knows? I think they've been a bit hasty. He deserved longer. Tony works hard at this job and he has got a lot to offer.[LNB] Pompey hoping for a change in fortunes after sacking 'very unlucky' Adams [LNB]No Mexican wave from Eriksson as Sven rules out taking over at Pompey[LNB]Look who Sir Alex has seen off in his time: The 923 bosses who have come and gone... He sees that, if they go down, it's going to do his money. So he probably panicked.'[LNB]Although Redknapp believes his former club were too quick to act, Adams was statistically Portsmouth's worst ever manager after securing just two wins from his 15 Premier League games in charge.[LNB]Meanwhile, former Pompey first-team coach John Metgod has accused the club of not giving the coaching staff a chance to show their worth.[LNB]Shown the door: Dutch coach Johnny Metgod has also been dismissed by Portsmouth.[LNB] The Dutchman followed Adams out of the door on Monday after just three months at Fratton Park. And Metgod has argued the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool was proof the system was working under Adams.[LNB]'For three months I worked well at Portsmouth,' he told AD Sportwereld. 'We often put on good performances. On Saturday we were 2-1 ahead with eight minutes to go. In the 93rd minute it was 3-2 to Liverpool because of an error in defence.[LNB]'The fans saw a spectacle and chanted the entire match for the coach. The real fans know that Tony didn't get an honest chance.'[LNB]Metgod also believes the departures of Lassana Diarra and Jermain Defoe last month contributed to Portsmouth's - and Adams' - downfall.[LNB]'The personal situation of club owner Alexandre Gaydamak played an important role,' he added. 'The financial crisis meant he was having problems and therefore sold players for millions.[LNB]'In the Premier League no other club has given up as much quality as Portsmouth. We were a ticking time bomb.'[LNB]Despite a disappointing spell at Portsmouth, Metgod revealed he would jump at the chance to work with Adams in the future.[LNB]'Adams is an excellent coach,' he said. 'I got on really well with him and as a craftsman I have him high in my mind.[LNB]'If there is a chance, I want to work with him again - in England or Holland.'[LNB] Pompey hoping for a change in fortunes after sacking 'very unlucky' Adams [LNB]No Mexican wave from Eriksson as Sven rules out taking over at Pompey[LNB]Look who Sir Alex has seen off in his time: The 923 bosses who have come and gone...
