It's All Gone Quiet Over There
Statement of affairs completed, but where are the new owners? Pompey have completed their statement of affairs and have handed the document to the High Court before the deadline of 4pm on Wednesday.What's in the document? Who knows? But it somehow has to explain how the club intends to become "solvent" and resolve £60 million worth of debt. I guess the statement will mention something about a new owner coming in to take over the club, but things have gone worryingly quiet on that front, publicly at least.Peter Storrie said over the weekend that something should happen within the "next 48 hours" yet those claims were refuted by a "source" yesterday. There has been no news or even any solid rumour of a new owner for Pompey fans to read and so alarm bells are beginning to ring.I'm worried myself. In fact I'm extremely worried that the High Court will review the statement of affairs document and read nothing but waffle that is something like what all us fans have been fed by the likes of Storrie and Jacob in the past months. I'm not confident as some of the "sources" at Fratton Park, that's for sure.Still, "no news is good news" as they say, and things might be so quiet at Fratton Park because people might be getting things done behind the scenes and don't want the media poking their noses in. It's unlikely, but you can't rule it out.With no news on new owners, the biggest piece of news to come out of today is that an arrest warrant was issued for a certain Sulaiman Al-Fahim for alleged unpaid debt of all things! Pompey's former sole owner is said to owe £1.4 million because of a property dispute.Of course, Al-Fahim denies this and he says he "isn't running away" from this and he's actually in Moscow at the moment to promote the all-important sport of Chess. I thought he might have been filming another one of those "gocompare" adverts myself.Pompey's 10% shareholder goes on to say that this case is "civil" not "criminal" and the dispute has been going on for a long time. Sounds just like Pompey's arguement with the HMRC and we know who's going to come out on top of that one.Finally, Pompey's FA Cup Quarter-Final with Birmingham City has been arranged for Saturday, March 6th with a 12:30pm kick-off.If the club still exists by then.
