Hreidarsson interests Rangers

Veteran Portsmouth defender Hermann Hreidarsson has been linked with a summer transfer to Scottish giants Rangers.

The versatile 34-year-old Iceland international joined Pompey in the summer of 2007 from Charlton Athletic, but his current contract runs out this summer.

His agent, Olafur Gardarsson, told the Scottish Sun: "I know Hermann is one of the options Rangers have looked at.

"He's out of contract in the summer and already a couple of clubs have said they want to get him on board.

"I'm not sure what will happen in terms of Hermann's future. Only time will tell. But Hermann likes the idea of playing in Scotland and he'd do a good job there.

"He has played his club football in England for a long time and this would be something new.

"People will talk about his age, but his physical condition is fantastic. He can play for another three or four years."

Hreidarsson has also played in England with Crystal Palace, Brentford, Wimbledon and Ipswich Town.
