Hermannator Agrees New Deal

But O'Brien's contract is cancelled. Hermann Hreidarsson has agreed a new one-year deal with Portsmouth which should be signed when he returns from international duty next week. The 36-year-old is due to play a behind-closed-doors match tonight against an under-23 side with a view to also playing for the reserves against Farnborough on Monday. It'll be the first action Hermann has tasted since rupturing his achilles at White Hart Lane in March. As one is on the verge of coming in, one is leaving as Liam O'Brien has had his contract cancelled after Steve Cotterill judged that he isn't good enough to play for Pompey in the long term. The 19-year-old had been on loan at Eastbourne but was dropped after the first couple of games and so the Pompey manager has swung the axe. Only time will tell if this was the right decision or not.Speaking of non-league, it was surprising to see that Dejan Stefanovic has signed for Havant & Waterlooville. The ex-Pompey captain had retired last season but at 35-years-old, he has returned and will go straight into the squad for the Hawks' FA Cup third round qualifier against Dorchester. That game should be worth watching as Pompey aren't playing this weekend. On a final note, David Lampitt is "confident" that the Football League will allow Pompey to exit administration when they meet next Thursday.I can only hope that there are no deadlines missed and that all the relevant paperwork is submitted this time.
