Portsmouth defender Hermann Hreidarsson claims Celtic and Rangers tried to sign him in the January transfer window.[LNB] Hreidarsson was looking a move away from Fratton Park last month after becoming increasingly frustrated with a lack of first team opportunities.[LNB]The Icelandic international, who scored in Saturday's 2-0 win over Manchester City, is now back in the first-team fold, but his future remains uncertain with his contract due to expire in the summer.[LNB]The former Ipswich and Charlton defender admits he would be interested in a move should either of the Glaswegian giants come calling.[LNB]"I fancied the idea of going to Rangers or Celtic," Hreidarsson told the Sunday Mail. [LNB]"I had a word with Tony (Adams) but he wanted to keep me. I can't really say how far it got and whose interest was stronger.[LNB]"But I spoke to a few people on the phone and they definitely wanted me."[LNB]Hreidarsson added: "My contract is up this summer and I'll be free to leave.[LNB]"If the chance came up again it's something I would consider."[LNB]
