Hart quick to allay James fears

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has played down fears that England international goalkeeper David James suffered a recurrence of a knee injury during Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Arsenal.

James was forced to have an operation on the injury in the summer and it was thought he aggravated the problem when he limped out of the Emirates Stadium clash.

However, Hart told the Portsmouth News: "It's the same knee but a different thing. It's not connected to the operation.

"We think it's just bone bruising and David's going to have a scan.

"He got a knock on it on Wednesday (against Birmingham City) and it's been pretty sore so he had an injection on Saturday morning.

"It was a little bit stiff and eventually became too painful to run on. But we don't think it's anything more than bone bruising so I'm keeping my fingers crossed."
