Manager Paul Hart believes that Portsmouth's fate is still very much in their own hands, despite having dropped into the relegation zone in midweek.
Blackburn Rovers' 2-1 win at Fulham was bad news for Pompey, who face a crunch clash at Middlesbrough this weekend.
Hart told The News: "If you are dependent on other teams' results, you could say results haven't gone well for us. But it's quite clear our future is in our own hands.
"It goes without saying that we're well aware of the position we're in and how important it is to stay in the Premier League.
"Then you deal with the teams around you and we've got quite a number of those. The idea is not to get beat and hopefully to win.
"We're not talking about relegation, we're concentrating on what we've done and I think the performances have been excellent.
"You've only got to pick the papers up every day to realise the position you're in, so I don't dwell on that too much.
"We've defended from a solid base and still scored goals - four in three games - and it seems to have tightened up a little bit.
"So I hope we've given ourselves a platform to win matches."
