Hart: Pompey not safe yet
28 Apr 2009 - 07:28:43
Manager Paul Hart is refusing to concede that Portsmouth are now safe from relegation despite picking up another valuable point from Monday's goalless draw with Newcastle United.
Pompey moved back above Blackburn Rovers into 14th place in the table and seven points clear of the drop zone following the stalemate at St James' Park.
"Do I think we are safe? If we had won tonight, I may have been persuaded to say it, but I am not going to say it just at the moment," said Hart.
"We have got a bit of work to do.
"I am very satisfied with a clean sheet and a point, but there's a tinge of disappointment that we didn't get all three."
Meanwhile, Hart claimed his side should have been awarded a penalty when Peter Crouch went down in the box following a challenge from Fabricio Coloccini.
"I thought it was a penalty then, even from such a distance because I know Peter Crouch doesn't go down unless he's fouled," he continued.
"I've since seen it and it's definitely a penalty."
