Hart - We did our duty

Paul Hart is confident Portsmouth did their fans a duty by beating Sunderland 3-1 in the final home game of the season. Pompey recovered from falling behind to a Kenwyne Jones goal by scoring three times in the closing half-hour of the match at Fratton Park. Interim manager Hart was happy to secure three points in front of the club's own fans and is targeting a positive result in the last game of the season at Wigan Athletic on Sunday. "It's very pleasing, especially for the supporters," said Hart. "Our duty to them is huge and that's part of it completed. "We've got another game left and we want to do the same again. We really do want to finish as high as we can. "We had a duty to the integrity of the Premier League as well and I felt we did the right job. "I think the first half was a bit like watching paint dry - it certainly was for me. But we injected a bit of life into things in the second half. "Sunderland probably edged the first half, but I thought that we were the better side after the break. "It's been a hard season and there are a lot of tired legs, but they pushed themselves over the line and I'm really pleased with the performance. "Sunderland continued to battle right to the death. There were a few headers and a few good saves by our keeper. They were always in it. "I said weeks ago that we need to keep fighting until the end of the season. I'm pleased that they've maintained a desire to get results."
