Paul Hart believes that David James can be England's No.1 at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.[LNB] By then the Portsmouth keeper will be 40 but his manager insists that he has all the qualities needed to carry on playing at the highest level.[LNB]The former Liverpool keeper has endured a somewhat turbulent career, particularly in his earlier years, but over the past few seasons he has established himself as the national team's first choice thanks to some outstanding displays.[LNB]James has even fought off competition from much younger keepers such as Ben Foster, Joe Hart and Rob Green as Fabio Capello continues to show faith in the 38-year-old.[LNB]"He is in absolutely tip-top nick," Hart said.[LNB]"And if you look at his performances for us they send a huge message to the other players in the squad."[LNB]World Cup backingIf James did go on to represent England in the next World Cup then he would emulate Italy keeper Dino Zoff's record of playing in the tournament at the age of 40 in 1982.[LNB]Despite not getting any younger Hart can see no reason why his charge can not continue the rich vein of form he has produced in recent seasons.[LNB]"If you are asking me whether he should be there for the World Cup I say yes, absolutely," he added.[LNB]"For me there is nobody better around and I really can't see any reason he can't play on at this level for a number of years yet.[LNB]"What it is that keeps you going and still wanting to play at that age I don't know, but it's got to be about pride, desire and condition and David's got all that.[LNB]"He's also a very talented lad."[LNB]
