Hart staying positive

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has vowed to turn things around at Fratton Park, despite another defeat. Pompey went down 3-2 to Bolton in an end-to-end game on the South Coast, but the defeat leaves them rooted to the bottom of the league without a point to their name. "Well we did well to come back twice and I think on chances created we probably should have won that game easy," Hart told Sky Sports. "I'm disappointed with all our goals we gave away, because really I don't think it's been caused too much by Bolton, I think it has been caused by our lack of good defending in certain areas. "Having said that, the spirit of the side remains and there is an awful lot of quality in the team. "The new players did extremely well and we've got to concentrate on those positives." Hart handed debuts to a number of players, with the likes of Tal Ben-Haim, Jamie O'Hara and Kevin Prince Boateng playing their first matches in Pompey colours. And their manager was pleased with the effort and endeavour that the new men showed. He said: "I think they've done well, I think as a team we can develop but it's quite obvious we need to get that developed and get that sorted as soon as possible. "I think there were signs today that they're already getting to know each other. "I think they've all got something to prove and I think out there today you saw their desire to do things and I'm delighted with many of them." However, Hart admitted that Pompey need results as soon as possible if they are going to climb up the league table, and said he understands the frustration from the crowd. "I don't think you could blame them for being impatient, they've had as tough a summer as we've had, you know it's been hard from the minute we finished playing on the 24th May," he said. "It's been tough and trying to explain that and trying to get people to understand is difficult because sometimes I don't understand some of the things that happen. "It's hard to enjoy football when you don't win a football match but I'm going to stick by it and we'll turn it round."
