Hart rues missed chances

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart rued his side's missed chances after they went down 2-1 at home to Tottenham. Harry Redknapp left Fratton Park with three points on his return to his former club, and his opposite number was left wondering how his team only scored once. Both sides finished with 10 men as Jermain Defoe was sent off on 61 minutes for a stamp on Aaron Mokoena before Michael Brown saw red in the dying moments after two yellows. Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes was in fine form and produced a string of good saves to keep Pompey at bay, but striker Aruna Dindane had a terrible match after missing two gilt-edge chances. The Ivorian forward latched on the end of a Tommy Smith cross with the score at 0-0 but fired over the bar from close range with the goal at his mercy. When the 28-year-old shot wide from close range again in the second half, Paul Hart must have been thinking it was not meant to be, and he was disappointed that after dominating for long spells, his team came away with nothing once more. "We had a lot of chances, a lot of chances that I think we'll be disappointed we haven't taken, and to be honest I can't remember David James having a single shot to save," he said. "Apart from 15 minutes we've dominated. "We've got to pick ourselves up again on Monday and start again. The spirit remains, they are a great bunch of lads and they want to do well. "If we if keep that spirit we've got a chance. "Again apart from 15 or 20 minutes in the first half we dominated against an extremely good side and we're all very disappointed we didn't come out with what I thought we deserved. "Apart from 15 minutes where we got punished, we've been excellent again."
