Hart - No points target

02 April 2009 11:34
Paul Hart says he is not living in the 'fantasy world' of setting a points target for Portsmouth to stay in the Premier League.[LNB] Pompey are currently three points clear of the relegation zone and also have a game in hand at leaders Manchester United.[LNB]A total of 40 points is usually considered as the benchmark for survival, but Hart has no intention of looking that far ahead.[LNB]Instead, Hart is focused on Saturday's game against Hull City, which precedes home clashes with fellow relegation candidates West Brom and Bolton.[LNB]Freedom"We have not set a points target," Hart told The News. "We are looking at Hull, then we'll look at West Brom and see what we get from that.[LNB]"I'm certainly not living in a fantasy world of plotting and planning, thinking about if we do this and if we do that, if we win all three and that sort of stuff.[LNB]"We'll deal with Hull, get that out of the way, then it's on to the next one.[LNB]"The week before the Everton game you're looking at yourself third from bottom, it's not pleasant and we hadn't really done anything wrong.[LNB]"The idea is now to stay out of that mess and improve the position. We are capable of doing that, but we have got to go about it in the right way.[LNB]"The players have been very resolute and played with some freedom as well. But there are no targets, it's taking each game at a time."[LNB]
