Hart - Next games are key

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart is hoping his team's upcoming run of fixtures will propel them out of the relegation zone. Pompey remain bottom of the Premier League following their 2-1 reverse at the hands of Spurs on Saturday, but the result could have been very different had they been more clinical in front of goal. The Fratton Park side travel to Hull City on Saturday before games against Wigan, Blackburn and Stoke, and Hart thinks his team have enough quality to dig themselves out of their current predicament. "These are games where we think if we continue to perform like that we're going to cause an awful lot of problems," he told The News. "Of course, I would never be that presumptuous and say we can go there and just do what we want. "But I think these recent performances against a lot of teams will enable us to give them problems." Portsmouth have only managed three points from their nine opening games in the league, but Hart has taken confidence from their recent performances, despite the defeats. "If we were getting trounced, pummelled and battered all over the place or out-done tactically or strategically then I'll hold up my hand," he added. "You wouldn't hold out that much hope - but we're not. "You can't just roll up and expect teams to lie down, but if we can maintain this level of performance we will be difficult to play against."
