Portsmouth caretaker manager Paul Hart has hailed the effort of the players after the South Coast club picked up a first win in ten attempts.[LNB] Hart is in temporary charge at Fratton Park following the dismissal of Tony Adams earlier in the week and the former Nottingham Forest boss admits that he has been thrilled by the response that the Portsmouth players have given him in the past few days.[LNB]"We are delighted for the club and obviously the players," said Hart of the 2-0 win over Man City.[LNB]"In a very short space of time this week they have worked unbelievably hard.[LNB]"We were very disciplined today and we set out to get a clean sheet and we got it. I think it showed the desire out there today that they were determined to get it.[LNB]"There is quality in the side and on the back of results confidence grows and I think we'll see a lot more from this team if we maintain this sort of attitude to the game."[LNB]Johnson praisePortsmouth had dominated the affair for long spells, but looked destined to see yet another opportunity go by until a twisting run and goal from Glen Johnson earned the breakthrough.[LNB]Johnson has come in for mixed praise during his career so far, but following the right-back's goalscoring heroics, Hart is in no doubt as to the quality of the England international.[LNB]"He's a fantastic player," said the 55-year-old.[LNB]"Sometimes I think you only realise how good people are when you get close to them and you work with them and he is absolutely fantastic."[LNB]FutureThe vital win also raises the likelihood of Portsmouth opting to retain Hart on a full-time basis, but the man himself insists that he is not thinking beyond the day-to-day business of being caretaker.[LNB]When asked whether he would still be in charge next week, Hart replied: "There's a chance I suppose.[LNB]"What happens in the future is out of my hands. It was great today the response of the players was fantastic, but I'm planning for next week and we'll see what we've got."[LNB]
