Hart hopeful on James
Portsmouth manager Paul Hart is crossing his fingers vastly experienced keeper David James does not require further knee surgery.
The England international limped out of Pompey's 4-1 defeat to Arsenal on 75 minutes and was replaced by Asmir Begovic.
James' injury concern comes just two weeks after he was forced to leave the field in their final pre-season match against Rangers.
The 39-year-old took a fresh blow to the knee in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat at Birmingham meaning he required a pain-killing injection to play at the Emirates.
Hart insists the veteran has not suffered a recurrence of the injury which required surgery during the close season and is hopeful he will not be out of action for any length of time.
"It's the same knee but a different thing. It's not connected to the operation," he told the Portsmouth News.
"We think it's just bone bruising and David's going to have a scan today.
"He got a knock on it on Wednesday (against Birmingham) and it's been pretty sore so he had an injection Saturday morning.
"It was a little bit stiff and eventually became too painful to run on.
"But we don't think it's anything more than bone bruising so I'm keeping my fingers crossed."
