Hart - Defence the priority

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has conceded bolstering his back-line is now his highest priority. Hart swelled his numbers on Friday following the additions of midfielder Michael Brown and striker Tommy Smith. However, the South Coast outfit find themselves short on numbers at the back following Sylvain Distin's undisclosed move to Everton. Hart is hopeful of signing two defenders before the window closes, although he does not expect any arrivals prior to Manchester City's visit on Sunday. Defender"I think I will have somebody (a defender) in but not for Sunday," he confirmed. "I'm looking to bring in two at the back. "I have to bring some players in and if we get everyone we want, it will probably be more than we require. "But given the position we've have been in, that would be a real comfort blanket to us. "We're trying to improve the squad within a limited budget and prove we're capable of staying in the Premiership." Limited fundsHart is hopeful there may be money to work with in January, however, he has no qualms soldiering on with limited funds. "I don't think it's going to be easy by any means and there may be money available in January," he continued. "But I'm used to working with no money - that has been my career. It doesn't faze me and I'm desperate to stay in this Premiership. "I'm confident the players we get, whether or not we have paid £50million for them, will add to our squad and give us a fighting chance."
