Hart calls for clarity

Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has called for clarity amid the current uncertainty that surrounds the club over a possible takeover. A new consortium led by chief executive officer Peter Storrie is bidding to buy the troubled South Coast club, but in the meantime Hart has had to manage as best he can a depleted squad in need of investment. On Wednesday night Portsmouth fell to their second defeat in as many games and while Hart felt the late penalty that saw Birmingham claim a 1-0 victory at St Andrews was harsh, he feels there are wider issues to be addressed first. The concern over Sulaiman Al Fahim's proposed takeover of the Premier League club has led to Portsmouth exploring other options with Hart now involved alongside the businessman and Hart admits he remains in the dark. UncertaintyHart said: "What do I know about the new takeover bid? Only that we might be getting some good news. We're all keeping our fingers crossed, that there might be a successful takeover bid. "I think it is imminent. I think we need to get this sorted out. That is pretty obvious for everyone." Hart is aware of the need to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes if Portsmouth are to have a realistic chance of top flight survival. He said: "We've got targets and it doesn't necessarily mean we are spending money. Will there be money if there is a takeover? I've not had those detailed talks yet." Portsmouth looked set to collect their first point of the campaign until David James, who had made a fine save to deny Kevin Phillips, was adjudged to have caught Sebastian Larsson by referee Lee Probert. Hart said: "I've looked at the penalty and it is harsh. The referee was perfectly placed. Why he had to rely on the linesman, I just don't know. "If you look at David James, his eyes are on the ball and his arms are outstretched to catch it."
