Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp praised the response to last weekend's FA Cup heroics after Wednesday's 4-2 success over Birmingham City.
Pompey reached the last four of the cup after knocking out Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday and Redknapp feared a drop in performance level against the Blues at Fratton Park.
But two quick-fire goals from Jermain Defoe and further strikes from Hermann Hreidarsson and Kanu kept the south coast club in the hunt for a top-six finish in the league.
"I was a bit worried about tonight on the back of Saturday," admitted Redknapp.
"We gave so much in the FA Cup that it was a bit of a juggling act to work out who had something left for tonight.
"But it was a good win and another good three points for us.
"It was nice to get four goals at home because we haven't got many here since the seven against Reading.
"I'm told we're seventh in the table now and it's going to be a tough scrap for the European places.
"But credit to Birmingham for coming back from two down because it looked like we could get five or six at that point."
