Greek move for LuaLua
11 Aug 2007 - 12:48:03
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp expects striker Lomana LuaLua to leave the club in the near future, with a move to Greek champions Olympiacos on the cards.
The 26-year-old joined Pompey in January 2004 from Newcastle United, but has struggled to become a first-team regular at Fratton Park, scoring 19 goals 91 appearances.
Redknapp told The News: "Lua is a great player, but he wants to move on. He wants a change.
"He wants to play in a role behind the strikers and he wants to move abroad. I've no doubt he'll go away and be a great player for Olympiacos.
"He will get to play in the Champions League there for them. He's been a top Premier League player and he'll be a top player for them."
Chief executive Peter Storrie added on the club's official website: "We can confirm that LuaLua is in Greece talking to Olympiacos about a possible move."
