Gignac rules out Lyon move

Toulouse striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has sought to put an end to speculation linking him with Lyon. The France international has been rumoured to be a top target for the Ligue 1 giants for some time. Lyon have made no secret of their desire to bolster their attacking options during the transfer window, with Lisandro Lopez and Bafetimbi Gomes already acquired. Gignac, though, insists he will not be heading to Stade Gerland, revealing that he has every intention of seeing out his contract at Toulouse. "When I extended my deal in January, I did it with my heart, not for bigger wages," he told L'Equipe. "I have always been honest. When Lyon showed an interest I immediately spoke to the coach and chairman. Affection "They understood my position, but they didn't want me to leave. I took that as an important show of affection. "I needed to think about it, but I never wanted to get involved in a transfer battle. "It would have been useless, and I love Toulouse too much to do that." While Gignac will not be joining Lyon this summer, Frederic Piquionne appears destined to be on his way out of the club. Reports in France suggest the full-back has agreed a one-year loan deal at Portsmouth and will travel to England this week to finalise the move.
