Finnan ends his Spanish adventure to sign one-year deal at Portsmouth

Portsmouth have moved to fill the gap left by the departure of Glen Johnson by signing former Liverpool right-back Steve Finnan on a one-year deal. The Republic of Ireland international agreed a release package on Monday with Spanish side Espanyol to cut short his contract just a year after leaving Anfield for Barcelona's second club. Finnan, who has played for the Merseysiders and Fulham, is set to join Pompey on their pre-season trip to Portugal. 'Steve is very experienced and a quality player,' said manager Paul Hart.
